ABOUT AWA
I am a Registered Nurse and Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the ANCC. I earned both my Master of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from The Ohio State University.My journey into healthcare is deeply personal. Born and raised in Senegal as a Mauritanian refugee, I have always been driven by a passion for helping others and creating meaningful change. After moving to the United States in 2010, I chose nursing as a way to serve others through compassion, advocacy, and healing.My clinical experience includes the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Operating Room, and Psychiatry, with additional experience in inpatient, PHP, and IOP settings. I am especially passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and creating a safe, supportive space where patients feel heard, understood, and empowered.My goal is to provide compassionate, patient-centered care while helping individuals move toward healing, growth, and emotional wellness.
