ABOUT AVYAY JAMADAGNI
Garbage makes up the stuff of my dreams. Quite literally. I love making use of the unused potential our waste has at its end of life, yet I hate the fact that waste even exists in the first place. I look to nature for answers to our global problems, and I strongly believe that a mutualistic relationship with nature is the way forward for us to progress as a planet. In my final year of my four-year Design Engineering MEng at Imperial College London, I reflect upon my key achievements. I explored the technical side of the circular economy by designing domestically-recyclable products and packaging with P&G, and then the business model-side by developing a business model canvas for circular value chains alongside Ragn-Sells. Within my many smaller experiences and interactions, what stood out to me was the notion of starting and ending with nature, the circular bioeconomy. But what is more enticing than biomaterials is the ability to work with nature to solve our problems, whether it is living mycelium networks grown underneath farms or acidophilic bacteria in mine heaps. I am now on a journey to learn more about our natural world, and fuse together my knowledge of design and passion for the circular economy to clean up our world.
