About Avni Bhalgat
I’m a PhD-trained cancer biologist with experience spanning translational immunology, single-cell technologies, biotech commercialization, and venture-adjacent strategy.I completed my Ph.D. in Cancer Biology at the University of Miami, where my research focused on immuno-oncology, cell therapy, STING pathway modulation, and multimodal single-cell proteomic/transcriptomic methods to support biomarker discovery and translational insight. My scientific training gives me a strong foundation for evaluating mechanisms, differentiation, and translational risk across therapeutic modalities.Alongside research, I’ve worked at the science-business interface, conducting commercialization diligence on 14+ biomedical technologies through tech transfer, supporting licensing and spinout decisions, and translating complex science into investor- and partner-ready narratives. I currently serve as Managing Director of Nucleate Florida, where I lead strategy, partnerships, and programming for a life sciences nonprofit and have supported 13 early-stage biotech teams in fundraising, positioning, and company formation.I also bring hands-on finance and operating experience, having led financial strategy, grants, sponsorships, and budgeting for a nonprofit organization and supported business development for a biotech platform company.I’m particularly interested in roles and collaborations at the intersection of biotech strategy, venture, and translational science.
