Quotable:\'What is the application\' My research and team activities involve particularly 1D/2D functional (organic or hybrid) nano materials for energy and biological applications. With regard to energy, by doing surface (organic) chemistry with some selective 2D nanomaterials their electrochemical properties are tuned for various applications such as for water splitting process to generate hydrogen in a ‘green’ manner. Further focus of the research is directed towards the fuel cells materials such as proton exchange membranes and their related phenomena such as ionic channels, self assembly and non-covalent interactions. Regarding 2D nanomaterials and their biological applications, I am investigating a rather new 2D nanomaterial known as Phosphorene (competitor of Graphene) and its organic hybrids, for example, with synthetically designed and developed polypeptides for similar applications e.g. cancer therapy, drug delivery and sensors. Recently, a special method has been proposed and reported by me to synthesize very selective type of nanosurface with different size and shape in order to harness the anisotropic properties of phosphorene in a device.
