ABOUT AVI WALLERSTEIN

I’m a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained corneal surgeon with over 25 years focused exclusively on refractive surgery. I’ve performed LASIK, PRK, and topography-guided procedures, including advanced treatments for keratoconus and presbyopia. As co-founder and co-National Medical Director of LASIK MD, I oversee 100+ surgeons across 43+ clinics, directing national protocols, surgeon education, risk management, and clinical quality for Canada’s largest refractive surgery provider. I’m also Executive VP at Vision Group, managing LVC, IOL, and ophthalmology centers with over 12 brands and 95 operating rooms, including LASIK MD and TLC Canada. Previously, I was co-International Medical Director of LASIK Vision Corporation, leading North America’s largest LVC platform at the time. At McGill University, I serve as Assistant Professor Ophthalmology and Director of Refractive Surgery, leading both the Refractive Surgery Research Unit (RSRU) and Vision Group’s R&D team. Together, we manage one of the world’s largest refractive surgery databases eyes/year) and drive research on custom nomograms, higher-order aberrations, and early ectasia detection. I’ve authored 50+ peer-reviewed papers and received the Waring Medal for editorial excellence in refractive surgery literature. I lead the development and now oversee mEYEstro™, a proprietary CRM/EMR and nomogram/outcomes analysis platform tailored to LVC and IOL care, now evolving into a full-spectrum clinical EMR for ophthalmology. My goal is to elevate global standards in vision correction through scalable innovation, research, training, and technology.
