Beginning his career in a practice with a fair mix of litigation and corporate advisory matters, followed by a full-time association with a senior counsel dealing with a wide variety of matters across laws, Avinash chose a career in corporate and commercial advisory. With a keen interest in corporate and commercial laws, over the years he has acted for both public and private sector clients on a variety of assignments; in the private sector, both Indian and foreign groups. In approaching an assignment Avinash values the importance of understanding commercial expectations and bearing a solution-oriented approach. He has advised clients across industries, including agriculture, auto components, education & training, energy, financial services, food industry, healthcare, IT & ITES, manufacturing, media & entertainment, oil & gas, real estate, services, telecommunications, tourism & hospitality. Avinash has not been practice area focused and gradually shaping his career as a generalist. He has advised clients on varied legal and regulatory issues, undertaken risk assessment and evolved risk mitigation strategies, and also assisted in putting in place a variety of contracts and other arrangements with focused negotiation skill-sets. For transactional assignments he offers an understanding of expectations of both buy and sell sides, as also of financial and strategic investors, and experience in negotiation strategy development in unique situations. His approach and astute documentation gave him opportunities of advising conglomerates on multiple transactions across industry sectors. He has also assisted in court-driven corporate restructurings and acquisitions. In the financial services space, aside insurance regulatory advice, he has advised on multiple restructurings and borrowings, and also in the securitisation and bankruptcy space (including the new IBC framework). In the real-estate space, he has assisted investors in making financial investments and also assisted in acquisition of large land parcels for a variety of end-uses. In the infrastructure space, he has assisted clients on various projects; he advised in bid preparation for BOOT transmission lines project, and also tying-in related arrangements. In the dispute resolution space, he has handled multiple assignments, with specific involvement in evolving litigation strategy. His assignments also presented him various opportunities to meet the regulators and government, including to obtain approvals and clarifications, and to represent clients in the course of investigations.
