ABOUT AVERY MOJE
Avery is the Program Manager at the University of Colorado Anschutz Firearm Injury Prevention Initiative. With a grounding in strengths-based, community-centered practices, she uses her expertise in research dissemination, health education, and program management to advance firearm injury prevention efforts in Colorado and nationally. She also oversees the Firearm Injury Prevention Leadership Engagement and Development (FIP-LEAD) program, which is designed to equip multi-sector leaders in Colorado with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to advance and engage in collaborative, evidence-informed, and locally-driven prevention of firearm harms. Within her work and beyond, Avery is passionate about the development and evaluation of interpersonal violence prevention programs for youth, reproductive justice, health equity, harm reduction, and community-based participatory research.Avery\'s previous work in firearm injury prevention has focused on developing community-based lethal means reduction strategies to increase youth safety and reduce suicide as well as strengthening frameworks for preventing mass shootings and identity-based violence. She also has extensive experience developing and facilitating interpersonal violence prevention trainings on sexual assault, consent, healthy relationships, and active intervention strategies for undergraduate and graduate students. Avery holds a Master of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a BA in Justice & Peace Studies and Women’s & Gender Studies from Georgetown University.
