About Avery Erwin
I run a writing lab called the Clearing. I work with infrastructure projects on shaping macro narratives and also run workshops to help individual writers find their voices. For several years, I led content teams for organizations dedicated to fixing the plumbing of the Internet. In a prior chapter, I taught writing to college freshmen, where I learned that a true teacher must ultimately let students own the classroom.The Clearing seeks to understand the myth-making around modern systems, from Internet protocols to industrial infrastructure. At its core, the Clearing is about keeping the craft of writing alive.
