As an Avionics Engineer at Project Sunride, I developed, manufactured, and tested advanced electronic systems for rockets, ensuring optimal performance in extreme conditions. My role required expertise in CAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for designing and validating structural and thermal components. I utilized PCB design tools like Altium Designer for creating robust electronics, Simulink for system modeling and control analysis, and 3D printing for rapid prototyping of avionics housings.Key Initiatives & Achievements: • Camera Systems Development: Designed and integrated high-reliability camera systems to capture launch and in-flight telemetry, ensuring stable, clear recordings in high-vibration environments. • Remote Activation Systems: Engineered a remote ignition system to prevent avionics overheating during prolonged pre-launch sequences, particularly in hot environments like American deserts. • Integrated Heat Sink Design: Developed advanced heat dissipation mechanisms for avionics, integrating custom heat sinks to maintain operational stability under extreme thermal loads. • GPS Tracking & Drone-Based Recovery: Designed a GPS tracking system for real-time telemetry and initiated a drone recovery system to locate and retrieve rocket remains post-launch, improving efficiency and reducing manual search efforts.This role enhanced my expertise in avionics design, system integration, and aerospace engineering, while cross-functional collaboration strengthened my problem-solving and project management abilities. Working on mission-critical systems in high-stakes environments sharpened my adaptability and technical acumen, preparing me for advanced aerospace challenges.
