About Avanish Kumar

I am a doctorate in Environmental Science, currently working as Director - CSR at GMRVF - the CSR arm of GMR Group looking after all the CSR initiatives of the Group. I was deputed as COO of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) which is the nodal body for the state of AP for skill training in the state for 1.5 years during 2015 to 2017. Before my deputation, I was heading the CSR activities for Hyderabad Airport and 2 GMR highways in AP. Conceptualizing and implementing CSR activities in areas of Education, Health and Livelihoods with special emphasis on skill training for youth and women empowerment was my area of work. Earlier worked with Walmart for Ethical Standards Division on issues of compliance, environmental and social standards in sourcing factories for Walmart in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Prior to that worked for 5 yrs at Centre for Environment Education, Ahmedabad, involved in various education and awareness programmes or schools, industry, villages, etc. Preparing country reports for India for presentation in UN Summits on Sustainable Development. Organizing international conferences, consultations, etc. Lot of writing related to environment from school text books to PG level books, international publications, etc.
