About Ava Gibson

Current Senior at Texas State University pursuing a degree in electronic media with a concentration in sports media minoring in political communication and media studies, seeking multimedia journalist position to start in summer 2026. I have always had a passion for storytelling and sports for as long as I can remember. Although I\'m no longer on the field playing sports, I still bring my competitive nature and drive into my work. I became interested in broadcast media when I joined my high school\'s AV program and anchored the morning news during my junior and senior years. This experience allowed my love for television and public speaking to develop and grow into my future career aspiration of being a reporter. Through my coursework and extracurricular activities at Texas State, I have honed my skills in media production, writing, and digital content creation. I am proficient in using industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro. I have a solid understanding of social media platforms and their role in modern journalism. My academic projects have included producing short documentaries, creating multimedia news packages, and conducting interviews with Texas State students and staff.In addition to my academic pursuits, I am actively involved in my sorority Alpha Delta Pi, and the Texas State Honors College. I currently serve as the Vice President of Panhellenic Relations for the Epsilon Zeta chapter of ADPi and act as the face of my chapter to our campus Panhellenic. Within this role, I\'ve planned multiple events, made quality graphics, and communicated effectively on topics such as recruitment rules and regulations. Within the Honors College, I\'ve completed various courses that have excelled my studies most notably,\"Talking like Ted.\" In which I carefully researched and delivered a 12-minute Ted Talk on the destigmatization of sororities. I am eager to gain hands-on experience in the media industry through internships and am particularly interested in opportunities that allow me to cover sports events, conduct interviews, and report on stories that matter.
