ABOUT AVA SOWA
As a sophomore Marketing major with a minor in Sports and Society at SDSU, I am eager to bring creativity and strategy into sports-driven marketing. With experience in running multiple of my high school’s social media platforms, I’ve developed an understanding of managing projects, creative strategies, and identity consistency. At SDSU, my involvement in the Beta Lambda chapter of Gamma Phi Beta and Women in Business has strengthened my leadership and taught me the value of female voices in business. As Merit Chairwoman, I ensure my chapter is excelling, which reinforces my commitment to investing in organizations that matter to me.Outside of SDSU, I have worked in babysitting as well as at Garage Boutique & Concept Store. These experiences have worked to help me develop personal skills like responsibility and patience, as well as more practical skills like time management, organization, and communication. At Garage Boutique, I worked with an all female team where we were very hands on with every aspect of the store, bettering my ability to work with people one-on-one as well as in team settings. Another key experience is my time working with Make-A-Wish Arizona as a member of the Youth Leadership Council. Through the YLC I was able to make an impact through community engagement, primarily through planning Wish Week fundraisers at my high school. Growing up with brothers, I was consistently surrounded by sports. My interest in the NBA peaked when I was in high school and my team, the Phoenix Suns, had gone to the NBA Finals. This appreciation for the sport has led me to seek a professional career in the field. The sports world is a culturally diverse and impactful space, where marketing has a prevalent role in how that is communicated. With the sports world being largely male dominated, I am excited to take my many experiences in female centered organizations and education and apply it to my eagerness to connect with professionals, pursue internships, and make an impact in the sports marketing industry.
