Austin Wachter is an accomplished finance and accounting executive with more than 25 years of experience leading high-performing teams across complex, growth-oriented organizations. He currently serves as Chief Accounting Officer at Cook & Boardman Group, LLC, the nation’s leading provider of fully integrated access and security solutions. In this role, he oversees enterprise-wide accounting functions, financial reporting, tax, and treasury, supporting the company’s ongoing expansion through acquisition and innovation.Before joining Cook & Boardman, Austin was Chief Accounting Officer at Quarterra Group (formerly LMC, a Lennar company), one of the nation’s premier multifamily real estate developers. At Quarterra, he led all corporate and development accounting functions, supported strategic real estate investments, and played a key role in organizational transformation as the company attempted to transition from its Lennar affiliation to a standalone platform.Previously, Austin held multiple leadership roles at TIAA and its investment affiliate Nuveen, including Chief Accounting Officer, Head of Corporate Accounting, and Funds Treasurer of TIAA’s investment funds. Over his 14-year tenure, he led transformation initiatives, strengthened financial controls, and provided strategic guidance across fund administration, real estate investment structures, and global accounting.Austin began his career at Deloitte where he led audits of private and public companies in both the greater Washington, D.C. and Charlotte, North Carolinas markets. A licensed CPA, he earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Duquesne University.A respected voice in the accounting profession, Austin has served in numerous leadership positions within the North Carolina Association of CPAs (NCACPA), including Chair of the Board during its centennial year. He remains active in supporting financial literacy for the next generation through his involvement at Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas, where he serves on the board and leads the finance committee.
