About Austin Pruneda
Lt Col Pruneda entered the Air Force at the United States Air Force Academy Preparatory School in August of He completed studies at the Air Force Academy and commissioned in June of 2005. Lt Col Pruneda started his career as a Communications Officer at Moody Air Force Base. He transitioned to the Force Support career field in 2008. In 2010, he was accepted to the United States Air Force Honor Guard in Washington D.C, where he led full honors funerals at Arlington National Cemetery and represented the Air Force in official state visits at the White House. Since 2018, he served as the Air Force representative to the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the Vice-Chair of the Multi Sports Organization Council, a coach for the Air Force Triathlon team, and member of the International Council of Military Sports for triathlon. Prior to his current position, Lt Col Pruneda was the Commander of Detachment 1, 2nd Air Force, Joint Base San Antonio, San Antonio, Texas. Lt Col Pruneda’s first contingency response was to support operations in Jackson, Mississippi due to Hurricane Katrina. He has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan in response to Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. As part of Joint Task Force Bravo, he provided humanitarian aid in Honduras and El Salvador. He also spent time working with the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission in South Korea supporting Key Resolve. Most recently, he deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait as a staff member of the Operation Inherent Resolve headquarters.
