About Austin Wheelon
With a professional journey spanning over two decades, I have amassed a wealth of experience across a diverse range of projects, ranging in value from $10 thousand to $1 billion and encompassing various sectors such as laboratories, libraries, college faculty spaces, student housing, medical office buildings, historic restorations, retail spaces, airports, civil infrastructure, tunnels, high-rise buildings, theatres, P3/DBFOM initiatives, and both collegiate and professional sports facilities. My career has been characterized by rigor, curiosity, and a commitment to approaching each project with a fresh and distinct perspective. My passion lies in assuming leadership roles on both project pursuits and their execution, collaborating closely with project teams to identify innovative solutions that align with our clients\' and designers\' expectations, all while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. My personal goal is to infuse an element of enjoyment into the process for everyone involved.Within PCL, I have established myself as a subject matter expert in preconstruction, specializing in Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) and Design-Build project delivery methods. I relish the challenges presented by current industry trends and take pride in working alongside teams to generate a multitude of options for consideration. After dedicating 13 years of my career to Los Angeles, I relocated to San Diego to assume the role of Preconstruction Manager for PCL. In this capacity, I lead pursuit efforts, oversee preconstruction activities, and provide training and support to teams managing our projects. My responsibilities extend across PCL\'s California Buildings District, encompassing projects that span from Paso Robles to San Diego. In addition to my professional endeavors, I am a devoted husband and father of two. Outside of work, my greatest joys revolve around spending quality time with my family, whether it be at the beach, camping, wakeboarding, or simply playing with my children.
