Currently serving as the VP of Technology at Gigantic Playground, where we work on a wide range of projects, from web and mobile to custom experiences blending the physical and digital. My role includes a diverse set of responsibilities, including- Managing a team of talented Engineers- Getting my hands dirty and writing code for various client projects and technologies, including custom AI POCs in Python, Arduino/Raspberry Pi, React and Node.js TypeScript/JavaScript, and native Android- Estimating project timelines and budgets- Designing system architectures and creating technical documentation- Leading client demonstrationsPrior to getting involved in a management role, my previous experience includes:Webby award-winning software engineer with experience working on Android and Web apps for companies such as Hulu, GoPro, Mars, The Container Store, American Girl, Intuit, Save The Waves, SDG & E, and SAG-AFTRA.Web Development:Led numerous MACH-architecture projects using a variety of technologies, frameworks, and languages, including- Headless CMS systems (Contentful, Contentstack)- Netlify, Vercel- Next.js, React- Vite- Commercetools- Cloudinary- Typescript, Javascript- Styled Components- Node.js- Docker - Redux- React Router- Apollo/GraphQLMobile Development:Built the Raken Android app from the ground up, utilizing the Raken JSON API, third party APIs, photo/video/audio capture and upload capabilities, custom views, signature capture, daily reminder notifications, and Spanish/Portuguese compatibility. Modified Java Spring backend code as necessary, assisted with website front-end development.Android Developer of the completely redesigned Mogl v2 app, using custom views, animations, gestures, Google Maps, Facebook, and integration of brand new Mogl API.Early in my career I had a very valuable role as a Quality Assurance Engineer, which I feel helped my software engineering roles in that it forces you to think about things from a different angle as an engineer does, which leads to a better overall end product.
