About Austin Buck
I am a senior at the Georgia Institute of Technology working towards a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering. I intend to pursue a master’s degree, and hit the ground running upon graduation as a multi-disciplinary polyglot with a passion for learning new skills and working with others. I have experience with 3D modeling software such as Solidworks and Autodesk, am proficient in programming using Java, Python and Matlab, and have a wide array of experience with manufacturing and embedded systems. I’m fluent in English and Spanish, and am close to reaching my goal of business-level German, all in hopes of improving my ability to communicate effectively with others. My goal is to eventually learn Russian and Chinese as well. I am someone who is passionate about drawing ideas from diverse pools, and after living abroad in Germany for several years and studying abroad in France, I have learned to adapt to change rapidly and seamlessly. As such, I work extremely well in a team setting, often finding my place as a coordinator who brings the separate ideas of specialists together into one project, delivering a product that is both highly effective and well-regarded by the team behind it. I have experience working in the automotive sector, the field of competition robotics, and the ROTC corps, all of which has given me the opportunity to become both an effective team member and an effective leader, depending on where I am most needed. Outside of this, I am a photographer, a pianist, and the avid member of the Georgia Tech Sailing Team. I enjoy seeing the world and making new friends, experiencing things I have never experienced before and getting pushed outside of my comfort zone. I am happiest when I have something in need of fixing, reading, or playing. It keeps my mind busy and my heart happy.
