About Austen Thygesen

Over the course of my professional career I have learned a fact and a philosophy. The fact being that I am just a number, a cog in a machine that can be easily replaced. That doesn\'t necessarily mean that I have no responsibilities; on the contrary because I am just a number, I have the opportunity to shape, motivate and support others. My scope of impact may be smaller in size but by no means insignificant. The philosophy, I work to live. My family and friendships are my focus which means that in my professional setting, I prioritize relationships regardless of my role. I remain as true as I can to treating folks the way I\'d like to be treated regardless of whether they reciprocate. Since graduating from university with a degree in Sociology, I have worked in a handful of industries with some amazing people who have shaped me into the person that I am today. Whether it be leading nine other runners across three European countries to complete a multi-day relay for a small charity, being appointed race director of a local trail race at the age of 23 after a successful stint at a global road race, stopping a train from cross a BQ course (with the help of a police officer and volunteer), making my way up the chain of a popular cape cod restaurant while training bussers, barbacks and bar tenders to getting my foot in the door at the iconic boot company, Timberland, as Associate Product Manager. I lived in Belgium for 17 years where I went to public school in French for 14 years in Brussels. Moved to the English country side (home of Hot Fuzz) for A-levels then Canterbury for College before moving to the U.S. where I\'ve lived since 2018. Other things to know about me- I love myself a good Excel-made tracker - When in an appropriate space (as opposed to my small apartment shared with my wife and cat), I enjoy painting large-scale landscapes and citysacpes in oil - I love to cook, taste new food and make fun cocktails
