About Augustine Akor
I’m an Intermediate ICU Registered Nurse at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center. My journey into nursing began with over a decade of hands-on experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from California State University, East Bay. Initially on the path to medicine, I was inspired by the compassionate, direct care nurses provide, which led me to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing with a Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) concentration from the University of San Francisco.Growing up in southeastern Nigeria, I witnessed firsthand the impact of healthcare inequities, which shaped my commitment to patient-centered and equitable care. This passion deepened further during a medical outreach trip to Guatemala, where I helped provide care for over 400 patients through vitals assessment, medication distribution, and physician-led treatment in underserved communities.I’m truly passionate about promoting health equity as I believe it’s a human right and delivering culturally competent care.
