ABOUT AUDREY THAYER
I think when awarded the Faculty Member of the Year for 2013 at Leech Lake Tribal College I realized that the ten years of experience as a Community Organizer/Educator in Social Justice issues in a seven-county area had changed. Elected to the Bemidji City Council in 2020. As of 2023, sit on the Bemidji City Council - At-Large position. I ran to make a difference. My life is in the academic and public service world. The change has created a focused challenge for me that I welcome. I am still providing workshops/classes in leadership that get me out into the community but the opportunity to be with bright, energetic, desiring to learn college students has been the warmest welcome to a new life. My family is now raised. The second family has been with me for eleven years. The grandchildren keep my mind young and my energy high. What fun! My personal philosophy to life - be optimistic! This year of 2015 I have started my Doctorate in Education at St. Thomas University! What area? Leadership of course! The coursework is completed. This is called ABD (All But Done). Working on the dissertation.
