ABOUT ATTILA KOVACS

In the past 9 years my world was revolving around product and process development, with sustainability in mind! Circular economy mindset provides a strong foundation for my sustainable supply chain management approach! As a food biotechnologist I have more than 10 years of experience in fermentation, and of course I have a deep passion for biotechnology (in regards of food industry and environment conservation and engineering). In my professional past I have explored the world of hard spirits, brewing, wine making, natural flavor production as well, as the life and hurdles of a research scientist. At my former job at a major flavor house, I was testing new business models and ideas, creating winning solutions and strategies in the R&D team, focusing on food and beverage flavors and natural ingredients. Currently I work as senior research engineer, with responsibilities in sustainable production development in the fruit juice industry. Scouting for business partners, testing new business concepts, and running hands-on trials (aroma recovery, waste and byproduct management etc.), are also part of my activities! To fulfill my passion I have a small “bio hack” lab at home, where I grow some microorganism to test certain new ideas. I strongly believe the future is biotech. I hold 1 spirit related patent, have taught university classes and authored publications about fruit brandy production.
