ABOUT ATMAKURI SREE HARSHINI

Big spaces, freedom, opportunities, to go places, exploring things. These little things have been my inner thoughts since I was a child. I always wanted to explore things on my own and have always been fascinated by things like designs and how the topography and weather affected the design aspect of buildings. Civil engineering was something that was never heard of or pursued in my family. The want and need of doing something different which intrigued my curiosity, NITK seemed perfect.NITK taught me and showed me things which I would have never learnt if I didn\'t take the step to come here. For example, It is situated in Mangalore with a different weather from where I come from and I observed a different architectural style here. Wanting to learn out of passion and interest is something I learnt here. Learning different types of construction designs and why they are made the way they are, how they are made, what kind of soil would be suitable for what type of buildings. One of the reason I like civil engineering is the freedom it gives, to choose any specialisation, to choose any kind of exterior, to choose the interior. It is beautiful once you understand it.My free time is mostly dedicated to listening music and playing badminton. Again badminton is an interest i developed after coming here. I also research about freelancing and try to learn programming languages. I intend to combine my core interest with coding and to explore further. I also did a bit of marketing here as a part of club activity. So overall it has been a great learning experience here at NITK.
