ABOUT ATIS CHAKRABARTI

Currently, at Wilmington PharmaTech (WPT), I hold a pivotal role overseeing the purification and chiral separation business. My responsibilities span business development, project management, and strategic planning. Working closely with company management, I actively identify new business opportunities and formulate effective strategies. I contribute to the development of operational procedures and protocols, ensure that our operations align with WPT’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), High Potent API (APAPI) manufacturing and maintain high-quality products. Additionally, I play a key role in internal and external audits. As part of my duties, I participate in recruitment and training of new employees and provide leadership in assigning and directing tasks. Evaluating customer information, handling Request for Proposals (RFPs), technical packages, and quote requests are also integral aspects of my role. As the leader of a dynamic team at Wilmington PharmaTech (WPT), I drive innovation in customized contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) chromatography solutions. Our work encompasses feasibility studies—ranging from screening studies to detailed process development (PD)—for the purification of diverse chiral and achiral molecules. These include small molecules, peptides, sugars, nutraceuticals, and various chemicals. Drawing from over two decades of experience, I have explored diverse modes of analytical chromatography and process chromatography. From size exclusion chromatography (SEC) to ion-exchange (AEX), reversed-phase chromatography (RPC), hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), affinity chromatography, and chiral separations—I have harnessed these techniques both at the analytical and preparative scale using both HPLC and UHPLC. My focus has been on developing robust methods for purifying chiral and achiral pharmaceutical ingredients. In practice, I have purified and analyzed an array of biomolecules: synthetic peptides, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), recombinant proteins, and antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). My contributions extend beyond the lab bench—I have authored fifteen peer-reviewed publications and delivered over 100 presentations, including posters and oral talks, at prestigious journals, conferences, tradeshows and other industry events. Whether within the USA or abroad, I have shared insights on biomolecule separation with fellow scientists and industry professionals.
