ABOUT ATHENA HARRIS

Effective financial investigation begins with intricate understanding of relevant issues, and a broad understanding of business financial systems. Prior to joining Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP in 2002, I worked in public accounting. Experiences of working with diverse client entities ranging in size from multi-national corporations to small family businesses, operating in many industries, is an invaluable resource;\'abnormal\' cannot be identified without first understanding what is \'normal\', within a particular industry and business size. Working with litigation attorneys on financial matters by analyzing and summarizing financial records and creating exhibits to \'tell the story\' is both interesting and challenging. Conveying financial details to triers of fact through exhibits has taught the importance of identifying key points, and presenting them clearly, accurately, and concisely. The most talented team does not win every time. From losses, I have learned from every agonizing detail. A favorite quote is from Emerson, “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”. I thoroughly enjoy working with attorneys, experts, and clients to find innovative solutions for clients. Each case is most important to each client, and it is this personal element that makes my work exceptionally rewarding.
