ABOUT ATHEER SHAWAI

I am a professional journalist with 17 years of experience in journalism in the US and the Middle East. My experience includes covering the news on the ground in the Middle East during critical crises and war zones as well as covering conferences, special events from the streets of Baghdad along to the White House. Currently, I work as a broadcaster for Radio Sawa. Parts of my duties are broadcasting, translation, interviewing, and writing and editing the news in different areas of the world. With a MA in Political Science and a BA in English Literature including minor in Political Theory along with a MA and BA in Arabic Literature and Criticism, I have sharpened my experience with necessary knowledge in order to add creative ideas, approaches and methods to overcome a wide variety of challenges and reach the planned goals through harmonious teamwork and hard working. My highly skilled and dedicated professional offering a solid background in broadcasting news for radio stations and my wealth experience of working for news websites and social media make me a significant performer for any news organization. Being a native Arabic speaker who studied Arabic culture, Islamic political issues, and the Western culture, politics, political philosophy in the Middle East and in the US, I have accurate and comprehensive knowledge of international relationships and ongoing political issues in both regions.
