ABOUT ATHARV PONKSHE
The Hospitality industry piqued my interest for the first time back in 2019. It hasn\'t shown any signs of fading, and I don\'t think it will, for a foreseeable amount of time in the future. I enrolled into SVKM\'s NMIMS, Navi Mumbai, for doing my BBA in Hospitality Operations and Management, fortunately, as I went on to meet, an amazing team of professors, who only helped strengthen the same.During my course, I was always interested in the Front Office Department, and subsequently started my On the Job Training in the same, at Vivanta, Navi Mumbai, once I graduated from my Undergraduate degree. However, within a week of starting, I was recruited into training and operating as a Sales Coordinator for the property, where I ended up working for the next 6 months. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience while also learning a lot from my superiors, as Sales was something I hadn\'t thought about when I was still a student.I started to consider doing my PG, more seriously, during this time period, and hence decided to transfer into being an associate in the Front Office for learning as much as I can, before I start my Master\'s. And luckily enough, the decision paid off, as not just did I learn about the department operations, I also got to experience the cohesiveness of how the departments work in the hotel. I have now completed my Master\'s degree in Strategic Hotel Management at the University of Surrey, taking in as much as I can, and am looking forward to getting back on the field again.
