ABOUT ASWIN THIRUPURAM

Hello, I am Aswin- an Engineer - MBA by training and a Sales professional by trade. Coming to what I do and why; I found my calling in B2B SaaS Sales. Primarily because it is the confluence of two things I enjoy- technology and conversations. As an Account Strategist, my average day is akin to giving out Netflix recommendations, at scale. I get to talk to the brightest minds in the start up space - working on some fascinating projects, and see IF and HOW Google\'s cloud platform could add value.Digging into my background and how I got here, I spent the formative years of my career trying out various industries and functions- From Account executive in the SaaS space to Key Account Manager in Industrial Sales. Having figured out the broad direction I wanted to pursue, I then headed back to school- seeking formal training in Business and Management through an MBA at John Molson School of Business. A lot of my time in B School has been spent on two broad areas - a) Processing data into information and insights b) Ability to translate those insights into action- usually around customer acquisition efforts.As such, I spent my time working on my leadership skills - through executive roles on clubs & committees, volunteering for Pro bono services and participating in case competitions with reckless enthusiasm. While the academic component has certainly given me a framework, it is the case competition experience that has had the most impact on me as a professional. Outside of work, I am an avid traveller, a technology, history and geo-politics enthusiast. You would probably find me reading a book or figuring out the next travel destination. Together with my partner and our 5 year old, we are on a mission to see the world on our plates, one cafe and restaurant at a time!
