ABOUT EKANEM SARAH NKWOCHA

I am always looking for opportunities to learn and apply my skills in solving complex health systems problems. WHO AM I General psychiatry resident and public health expert with a concentration in health behavior and health informatics. I have two years of general medical practice experience following one year of medical internship. I am also a mental health enthusiast and passionate about projects and research work that improve access to healthcare. I love listening to music and am learning to play the acoustic guitar. WHAT I BRING A rich combination of skills and experiences that have broadened my perspective on approaching health service delivery and quality improvement challenges. MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS • During my MPH program, I collaborated with four other MPH students, the Database Administrator of the North Carolina Trauma Registry, and members of the North Carolina State Trauma Advisory Council to create guidelines and evaluation procedures for reducing the rate of unnecessary CT scan imaging of pediatric trauma cases in North Carolina Trauma Centers, thereby reducing long-term health effects from pediatric radiation exposure. • While working as a Graduate Assistant at the UNC Health Sciences Library, I took the initiative to update the Early Career Researcher’s library guide with up-to-date resources that met the needs of library users. The Early Career Researcher’s guide is designed to provide early-career researchers with information and guidance on research processes and career development. • Served as the Corps Medical Director, National Youth Service Camp Clinic, FCT Abuja (Nov - Dec 2017) where I supervised about 110 Corps medical personnel, including medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, medical laboratory scientists, and optometrists who worked at the Camp Clinic. The clinic was responsible for the health and well-being of over Corps members and staff of the NYSC who were at the camp, and provided first aid and primary medical care, delivered health lectures on a wide range of topics, and conducted initial resuscitation of medical emergencies. MY SKILLS Proficient in Qualtrics, STATA, Dedoose, and Microsoft Office 365, including an excellent understanding of Excel and MS Teams. Specialties include qualitative research, statistical data analysis, research survey development, monitoring and evaluation, and project management.
