Hello, My name is Astrid! I am a student who has successfully made a transition from the field of civil engineering to the world of computer science. With a solid foundation in engineering and a newfound passion for programming and technology, I am dedicated to contributing my skills to a sustainable and technologically advanced future.My journey began as a Civil Engineer, with my first degree from the University of Washington. During my final year in this program, I began to recognize the transformative potential technology and software engineering has for our future, in a way I that civil engineering alone couldn’t fulfill for me. This revelation led me to dedicate my senior year taking as many computer science courses as I could, eager to familiarize myself with the subject.Over the past year, I’ve immersed myself not only in coursework but also in the role of a teacher. Here I was able to acquire proficiency in programming languages like Java, JavaScript, and Python while also deepening my understanding of database management through SQL and web programming. Teaching this summer was a privilege that not only allowed me to impart my knowledge but also deepened my own understanding and solidify my programming skills. As I prepare for the next chapter of my academic journey at Oregon State University, I\'m confident in my abilities and excited to continue my pursuit of knowledge in the field of computer science.
