About Assad al-Alawi

As a power engineer with a B.S. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Colorado State University, I am passionate about applying my knowledge and skills to design, test, and commission electrical systems and equipment for various projects. I currently work as an Electrical Project Engineer at Mott MacDonald, a global engineering, management, and development consultancy, where I collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions for clients in different sectors and regions. I am responsible for preparing and reviewing technical specifications, drawings, calculations, and reports, as well as conducting site inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components, such as generators, transformers, switchgears, and protection devices. I have also gained valuable experience and exposure in the field of power engineering through my previous roles as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer at OMIFCO S.A.O.C and an Electrical Engineering Trainee at Oman LNG L.L.C, where I learned about the operation and maintenance of gas turbines, electric motors, substations, and power distribution systems. I acquired the skills of reading and understanding single line and flow diagrams, as well as improving my communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills. I am always eager to learn new things and enhance my professional development. I have obtained multiple certifications from LinkedIn, such as Public Speaking Foundations, Learning Word Desktop, and Managing Project Stakeholders. I am also fluent in English and Arabic languages. My goal is to pursue a career that challenges me and allows me to contribute to the advancement and sustainability of power engineering.
