About Aspi Wadia
Dr Wadia started his career in the gas turbine industry in 1979 at Garrett Turbine Engine Company in Phoenix, Arizona where he used 2D and 3D viscous tools to develop some of the first ever tip treatment concepts to reduce tip leakage flow over un-shrouded turbine blades. Later, at Allison Gas Turbines in Indianapolis, Indiana, he pioneered the development of a film cooling model that still serves as the backbone for showerhead cooling designs in the Company and which led to the development of the first multi-hole combustor liner for the T800. Dr. Wadia retired in 2020 as Chief Consulting Engineer – Aerodynamics at GE Aviation in Cincinnati, Ohio. In his 35-year career at GE, he was the manager for turbomachinery aerodynamics, engineering program leader for large military engines and played a leadership role in the aerodynamic designs of the F110-GE-132 fan, the LM2500+ and CF6-80C2 high-pressure compressors and the booster. Dr Wadia holds 40 patents and has published over 65 papers in archival journals. He received ASME’s Melville Medal for the best paper in the ASME transactions in for his pioneering work on swept fan and compressor blades and again in 2009 for developing and demonstrating a stability management system for gas turbine engines. He was awarded the ASME / IGTI’s Aircraft Engine Technology Award in 2009 for sustained contributions to turbomachinery aerodynamics and cooling technology, GE Aviation\'s Perry T. Egbert Lifetime Technical Achievement award in 2017, ASME\'s R. Tom Sawyer Award in 2018 and AIAA\'s Air Breathing Propulsion Award in 2024. An ASME fellow and an AIAA fellow, he has been a member of the IGTI Turbomachinery committee since 1983, the IGTI Aircraft Engine committee since 1996 and was the Chairman of IGTI’s Turbomachinery committee in 20••••09. Dr. Wadia is a Six Sigma Master Black Belt at and is listed in Marquis Who\'s Who in America and Finance and Industry.Specialties: 1. Axial compressor and turbine aerodynamics design2.
