About Nathaniel L. Currie

As a Assistant Professor at Clark Atlanta Univeristy, Whitney M. Young Jr School of Social Work, currently under tenure and promotion review, I have taught across our BSW, MSW, and PhD programs. My teaching focus in our MSW program is on advanced practice and diversity courses. My clinicalresearch focus is on effective liberative supervision practices, and the intersection of trauma and HIV healthcare and wellness. As Director of Behavioral Health & Clinical Research at NAESM INC, I lead clinical and administrative initiatives, including managing a SAMHSA grant, developing clinical internship programs, and providing clinical supervision to a behavioral health team. My work focuses on behavioral health, men’s health, and LGBTQ+ health, including transgender and non-binary populations. With over 15 years of experience in mental health and academia, my expertise includes university lecturing, federal research grants management, and behavioral health systems strategy. I am dedicated to fostering equitable healthcare practices and advancing social justice through education, research, and impactful clinical initiatives.
