ABOUT ASIF IQBAL

I’m a senior software engineer with 10+ years of experience building cloud-native, distributed data platforms that power high-stakes domains such as financial systems, experimentation platforms, and large-scale analytics.Over the past several years, I’ve focused on designing and operating high-throughput, fault-tolerant data ingestion systems—from event-driven pipelines and backend-orchestrated workflows to idempotent processing, replay/backfills, and correctness guarantees. My work has supported everything from financial claims and payments at Spotify, to scientific search and discovery at BenchSci, to real-time telemetry and experimentation across millions of devices at Ecobee.I enjoy working at the intersection of software engineering and data platforms, where reliability, scalability, and clear data contracts matter just as much as performance. I’ve led and contributed to systems built on GCP and AWS, using technologies such as Apache Beam/Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Terraform, and I’m comfortable collaborating closely with backend, product, and data science teams.I’m particularly interested in roles where data quality, correctness, and system design directly impact real-world decisions, and where strong engineering fundamentals are applied to complex, evolving problem spaces.
