1. Engagement Reporter

   I lead crowdsourcing efforts for community-centered investigations. Here\'s what this looks like:• Surveying nearly every Idaho school superintendent about their facilities and visiting 39 schools for a project with the Idaho Statesman. Following our reporting, lawmakers approved $2 billion for repairs.• Crowdsourcing to show systemic issues and harm, as my colleagues and I did when we spoke to more than 150 people who experienced homeless encampment sweeps.• Gathering community feedback, user testing products from callouts to news apps and adjusting based on feedback.• Creating avenues for people to share their stories (with security and sensitivity in mind) and maintaining relationships with respondents.• Reaching people where they are both online, using social media and SEO, and in person, from tabling at a local flea market to putting up flyers around town. • Reporting back, making our work accessible and creating useful service journalism.• Leading trainings on engagement reporting strategies.
