Working as Project EHS Incharge for the Ganga Expressway Greenfield Road Project (Package 11) with ITD Cementation India Ltd. under Adani Road Transport Ltd, I lead and manage all Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) operations across Package 11. This six-lane (expandable to eight-lane) project includes major structures like 232 box culverts, 108 underpasses, 66 minor bridges, 6 flyovers, 2 major bridges, 2 ROBs, toll plazas, and rest areas, involving over 9.45 lakh cum of concrete and 522 lakh cum of earthwork.I am responsible for EHS implementation for over 900 workers, ensuring safe practices in earthwork, WMM, DBM/BC laying, RE wall erection, crash barriers, kerbs, and structure works. My key role includes coordination with the client and ensuring timely compliance of safety observations, preparing and updating HIRA, developing EHS Management Plans, Erection & Lifting Plans, and executing safe critical lifting operations involving heavy equipment and structural elements.The project poses several challenges—working in a greenfield zone with poor connectivity, overhead power lines, waterlogging, unskilled manpower, medical inaccessibility, and high vehicular movement risk. I lead initiatives to mitigate risks such as electrical hazards, road accidents, work-at-height injuries, and equipment toppling through systematic safety controls, training, audits, and emergency preparedness.Through active monitoring, worker engagement, and strong coordination with stakeholders, I strive to foster a culture of safety excellence and ensure zero-harm project execution in one of India’s largest expressway developments.
