About Ashton Ropp
I am a Computer Engineering student fascinated by control systems, embedded hardware/software, machine learning, and computer vision. I have an intense passion for space, robotics, and computer hardware. My internships with Lockheed Martin have provided an opportunity to develop embedded software, learn AGILE methodologies, and cement my ability to work in an engineering environment. I also possess diverse project experience. One project involved creating a building guide which deployed OpenCV to navigate and map my college\'s engineering building. I also developed a depth detecting stereo vision system from scratch. Further, I have designed numerous robots using embedded C, ROS, and Python. These robots utilized Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32, or Jetson Nano microcontrollers. I have also gained invaluable skills during my time with the Rensselaer Spaceflight Society student club. Over the years, I have served as the President, Vice President, and Treasurer of this organization. I led the club to pursue projects such as a bipropellant rocket engine, lander module, ground rover, and various other space-related systems.

This role allowed me to implement and verify CPU architecture. I learned IO, memory, cache, and instruction decode architecture on the IBM Z mainframes. I implemented this functionality using assembly. I also developed debug and test applications using Python, JavaScript, and HTML.
