The Quality Director, Nuclear, reporting to the Senior Vice President of Industrial East, serves as Bird’s management representative for quality with the authority to escalate any quality issue directly to the Senior Vice President. The Quality Director of Nuclear holds overall responsibility for the Quality Assurance Program for compliance with N299.1, N286, N285, and NCA standards, including its revisions and issuance, and ensures compliance with Bird’s nuclear operations, suppliers, and customer quality requirements. Leading a team of nuclear Quality Managers and quality personnel, the Quality Director of Nuclear plans, establishes, and verifies the implementation of the Quality Assurance Program across all locations. Responsibilities include adhering to quality performance targets, developing solutions to quality issues, coordinating the management review, and qualifying auditors and inspection personnel. The Quality Director of Nuclear also monitors the performance of Quality Managers, evaluation and selection of suppliers, internal and external audits, and can issue a stop work order if necessary. The role also involves coordinating investigations to determine the cause for nonconformance, representing Bird on quality matters with external organizations, and approving suppliers to add to the Approved Supplier List.
