About Ashmita Mitra
Most policy research dies in a folder. Not because the analysis was wrong. Because no one could turn it into something a decision-maker would actually read. That gap is where I work. I spent the last few years inside 8+ research and policy roles — public health, labor law, electoral analysis, energy, gender budgeting, watching the same thing happen repeatedly: rigorous data, unusable output. So I learned both sides. At IIPH Hyderabad, I synthesized 50+ academic papers and ran data analysis across 150+ participant forms to produce program evaluation outputs. At CPPR, I cleaned and analyzed NHFS datasets to surface insights for a Human Development Report. At Praghna Foundation, my comparative electoral analysis made it into a peer-reviewed journal. What I deliver: — Policy briefs and consultation summaries that are actually read — Data pipelines cleaned in Excel, with Stata and Python in active development— Research that bridges quantitative findings and narrative recommendations— Published work across public health, electoral dynamics, and energy policy I work best with: Think tanks, development consultancies, public health institutions, and political research outfits that need someone who can go from raw dataset to drafted recommendation without handholding. I\'m not the right fit if: You need a pure execution resource with no research input. I think, write, and challenge the framing, that\'s the value.Currently: MPP candidate at OP Jindal (graduating 2027), open to paid internships, part-time research roles, and PPO conversations.
