ABOUT ASHLEY WYSONG

I have always believed in leaving each place and each person better than I found it.My work as a skin cancer surgeon, scientist, and leader has never been just about treating disease. It is about building programs, advancing science, and creating environments where people can grow, lead, and thrive.Clinically, my focus is on high risk and complex skin cancers, where thoughtful, multidisciplinary care can meaningfully change outcomes. Academically, my work centers on translational research and epidemiology to better understand tumor behavior and improve patient care.I am a builder at my core, drawn to creating, growing, and scaling programs that elevate people, advance the field, and stand the test of time.I have had the privilege of founding and scaling a Department of Dermatology from the ground up, recruiting and developing teams, launching a residency program, and building a nationally recognized skin cancer program. Today, at Mayo Clinic, I lead a growing dermatologic surgery program focused on complex oncologic care and innovation at scale. On a national level, I am deeply engaged in advancing our field through leadership, mentorship, and service. As President of the Women\'s Dermatologic Society, I have the honor of leading a community built on mentorship, networking, and service. As we celebrate 35 years of mentorship, I am especially proud to help carry this mission forward.I believe mentorship is not just a program. It is a responsibility. It is how we develop leaders, expand opportunity, and ensure the strength and future of our field.Leadership, to me, is about lifting others, building systems that last, and creating momentum that extends far beyond any one individual. It is about showing up with purpose, investing in people, and having the courage to evolve. And the best is yet to come.
