About Ashley Taken
I am a Data Scientist at Occidental Petroleum (Oxy) with 6+ years of experience applying machine learning, statistical modeling, and automation to complex, real-world systems. My work spans offshore energy operations and financial applications with a focus on deploying reliable, production-grade ML solutions that improve decision making, operational efficiency, and compliance.I hold an M.S. in Analytics (Computational Track) from the Georgia Institute of Technology (OMSA). with training equivalent to a traditional M.S. in Data Science, and undergraduate degrees in Chemical Engineering and Biology. This interdisciplinary background allows me to bridge domain expertise with modern machine learning techniques particularly in time series modeling, pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and applied AI.I am especially interested in building and deploying ML systems end-to-end—combining modeling, cloud infrastructure, and automation to deliver measurable business impact. I’m always open to conversations around applied machine learning, production AI systems, and data-driven problem solving.

Production Engineering Group - Gulf of America OffshoreApplying data science and machine learning to optimize offshore production engineering processes in the Gulf of America. Focused on building predictive models, integrating advanced analytics tools, and automating workflows to enhance efficiency and decision-making- Developed a machine learning classification model achieving 98% accuracy (a 21% improvement over the prior rule-based system) to determine well statuses with live predictions implemented via a docker container in Azure- Championed use of a new model integration pathway from Azure/AWS through PI Web API to the backend server PI AF which enabled ML predictions to be written directly to an attribute for end users and applications- Created 20+ “Manage By Exception” alerts using Python in Seeq Data Labs with API integration sent to Power Automate, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint to send custom alerts and streamline engineer workflows- Built an Isolation Forest anomaly detection model based on tank level derivatives to alert production engineers for enhanced leak awareness and proactive maintenance.
