About Ashley Sussman

When I was 4, I used to stage my dollhouse and not let anyone touch it. I wanted it to look perfect at all times. That was when my mother discovered my design talent. When I was 10, I saved up and bought my first duvet cover. That is when I realized design was my calling. Raised in a military household, I moved every year or so. My favorite thing about moving was getting a new bedroom. A new bedroom meant new walls to decorate, new spaces to arrange, and a new challenge. I graduated from High Point University with a BS in Interior Design (\'14). My husband and I spent some time in Boston, MA after graduation, but have relocated to Charlotte, NC for his career. In Boston, I heavily focused on visual merchandising. I created innovative designs for local boutiques and home stores including Restoration Hardware, West Elm, and Crate & Barrel. I then moved on to become a Design Assistant for a small interior design firm in Lexington, MA. This position was perfect and I loved every aspect of my job. Unfortunately, we ended up having to relocate for his career. Since moving to Charlotte, I have primarily focused on new construction and renovations but also take on full room furniture projects with my current design firm. I define myself as an interior designer, however, see design more as who I am rather than something I do. I love the details that are often overlooked; the space between the empty. I enjoy giving life back to items lost in time. I am inspired by reclaimed wood, chandeliers, and historic buildings. I believe every home benefits from flowers and am making my mark on the world one project at a time.
