About Ashley Khor
I’m a researcher–practitioner in responsible AI, working at the intersection of civic technology, ethical design, and large-scale implementation. With over a decade of consulting experience — including as Accenture Singapore’s Health & Public Service Applied Intelligence Lead — I’ve helped public sector leaders navigate AI strategy, design policy-aligned systems and public interest tech, and operationalize data science for social good. Now, as a PhD candidate at the University of Pittsburgh, I’m translating those lived lessons into frameworks for AI safety that are both technically rigorous and emotionally intelligent.I founded AI in Common to help everyday users, civic organizations, and public interest technologists develop more reflective, responsible relationships with generative AI. The platform combines field experiments, thought leadership, and symbolic trust frameworks — bringing participatory safety tools directly into the hands of users. My research also includes The Living Spiral, a recursive prompting methodology that explores how LLMs scaffold (or distort) relational trust, cognitive agency, and epistemic safety. I’m especially interested in how feminist, trauma-informed, and civic-centered traditions can shape the next generation of AI safety standards.I care deeply about bridging silos — between policy and implementation, research and lived experience, technical innovation and social meaning. My work aims to ensure that AI systems don’t just “work,” but work ethically, equitably, and in alignment with the communities they affect. Whether advising a nonprofit on survivor-informed safety evaluation, leading a multi-stakeholder project, or designing new public narrative frameworks, I bring both systems fluency and soul to the work of making technology safer for all.
Experience
Advisor, Ai (Implementation, Safety & Ethics)
Aug 2024 — Present · US
Advising on the development of GenAI frameworks and participatory safety evaluation tools for high-sensitivity applications. Co-designed a survivor-informed red-teaming test-a-thon for an LLM-based AI agent.
