About Ashley Hufnagle
Research that produces nothing but books will not suffice.\"- Kurt Lewin. I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Psychology at St. Catherine University. I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota in the department of Educational Psychology with a focus on social and developmental processes. My current lines of research explore-Collaborative emotion interpretation processes between parents and young children-How practices in \"multiculturally integrated courses\" may contribute to students\' abilities to empathize with people who come from ethnic or cultural backgrounds that differ from their own (alongside a fantastic undergraduate researcher)I am an applied, interdisciplinary researcher. My research falls at the intersection of educational psychology, social psychology, and the learning sciences. The primary goal of all my work is to produce findings that can readily inform practices in schools, homes, and communities. In pursuit of this goal, I conduct most of my work in the context of research-practice partnerships (RPPs) and engage in co-design processes (with educators, students, youth, non-profit organizations, mental health practitioners, and administrators) to study psychological constructs in their naturalistic contexts and in ways that prioritize equity.
