About Ashley Sullivan
Ashley Sullivan is a professional engineer with 25 years of experience assessing and designing geotechnical systems. In 2019 Ashley joined the Board of Directors at O\'Reilly Talbot & Okun, and in 2020, she was elected president of the organization. She has been instrumental in growing and developing business in the geotechnical and construction services of the company. She provides value to projects and clients, while giving consideration to disciplines other than her specialty.Through 2019, Sullivan helped guide the business through an internal transition that set the framework for OTO to become a generational organization. The spirit of the transition includes a transfer of knowledge and experience from the founding principals, as well as mentoring and support of the next generation. Her guiding values include transparency, respect, and teamwork to create a culture of trust, flexibility and growth.For 20 years, Ashley has managed projects including subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, geotechnical design including foundation design and ground improvement, slope stability analysis, small to mid-size dam inspections, and construction monitoring. In addition to design, she provides support to contractors during construction phase activities such as temporary earth support, underpinning, pre-construction surveys, dewatering, and management of impacted soils. In addition, Ashley has experience with assessing impacted soil and groundwater and designing environmental systems such as sub-slab venting to control radon and vapor intrusion. Ashley is the instructor and creator of the ABET required, senior level capstone design course for the Civil Engineering Department at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts. She also serves on the Department’s Advisory Board. Ashley enjoys connecting students and new graduates with her clients and peers in the industry for internships and entry level positions. As a graduate student, Ashley studied groundwater behavior as well as subsurface contamination and treatment. For her master’s thesis, she analyzed iron reduction in oxygen depleted environments. For her undergraduate honors project, Ashley modeled the radioactive isotope of hydrogen, tritium, for use in groundwater age dating.
