About Ashley Smith
Every woman, at some point in her life, struggles with society’s oppressive expectations for her: You’re not pretty enough. You’re too pretty to be taken seriously. You don’t speak up enough. You’re too bossy. You’re too emotional. You’re too serious. You’re too much. You’re not enough. It can be hard at times to discern Societal Truth, from Your Truth; leaving women feeling less than confident about their leadership skills, their outward appearance and or their inherent value. With societal expectations often set at the impossibly high bar of perfection for women, many feel as if they fall short of the mark and therefore deem themselves as insignificant and or not enough. M Perfectly has a strong mission to help women let go of the societal standard of perfection, move past fear and gain access to her most powerful tool; her voice. As the founder and director of M Perfectly Nonprofit, having an extensive career in medical device sales, and working as a communications coach, coaching c-suite executives from LinkedIn, Facebook, Google and more, my passion for communications has only increased. My awareness for voices heard & unheard have also become keen & my heart extends to women who have conformed to societal expectations which have crippled their ability to strive for excellence over perfection. From corporate leadership development to shelters for underprivileged women, we are building a strong foundation in what it means to be self confident while leaving a footprint of hope for women from all walks of life.
Experience
Communications Coach
Jan 2019 — Present · Seattle, WA, US
At first glance, it may not seem like a career in medical device sales and a launching lifestyle company have anything in common. But for Ashley Smith, the common denominator is communication. Whether helping hospitals find the right tools they need to save lives, or inspiring moms to prioritize their own hopes and dreams, she is passionate about the power of clear communication to move projects and people towards their goals. After receiving her BFA in Speech Communication and Rhetoric from the University of Georgia, Ashley embarked on a nearly 13-year career in the medical device industry, serving as a Territory Manager for Applied Medical and Biomet 3i and as a Sales Representative for Septodont. These roles helped Ashley hone her expertise as a concise, assertive communicator, clearly articulating products and expectations to surgeons in a high-stakes environment. In 2018, Ashley left the healthcare field to launch her own company, Whine Down LLC. She has since authored her first book, developed retail products, and built an online community that encourages busy moms make time for themselves. A natural extrovert who loves singing, dancing, and making people laugh, Ashley recently produced her own music video, a mom parody to the hit song “Ju Ju on That Beat” called “Mama on Her Feet.” She lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband and three young children and can often be found offering advice and support to fellow working moms in her community.
