About Ashley Small

I began my career as an Intervention Specialist almost 20 years ago. Since then, I have had the privilege of opening specialized learning centers and behavior programs at both the elementary and high school levels. Those experiences shaped me into a relationship-driven leader who believes deeply in access, dignity, and opportunity for every student.Today, I serve as Assistant Principal at Eversole Run Middle School and previously served as Dean of Educational Leadership at Dublin Jerome High School. In these roles, I have led PBIS and MTSS initiatives, supported academic and special education teams, coordinated school safety and state testing, and partnered closely with families and staff to ensure accountability with compassion. My background in special education has allowed me to lead the creation of behavior learning centers and specialized programs that support diverse learners while strengthening inclusive school communities.My leadership approach is simple: relationships come first. I spend time where the work is happening, in classrooms, hallways, and at the front door each morning greeting students. I believe high expectations matter, but expectations without relationships rarely lead to lasting success. When staff, students, and families move in the same direction with a shared purpose, incredible things can happen. Leadership, to me, is not about authority—it is about service. It is about listening deeply, building trust, and making thoughtful decisions rooted in what is best for students. My goal is always to create school environments where every student feels seen and valued, and where educators feel supported in doing their best work.I am always interested in opportunities to contribute to school districts that prioritize strong relationships, high expectations, and collaborative leadership to help students and staff thrive.
