About Ashley Sheldon

I’m Ashley Sheldon, a sophomore studying at Union College for my bachelors of science in Psychology major, and minor in Sociology. I have a broad interest in the field of psychology, but have a specific interest in working with children or people with disabilities. I developed this interest during my time volunteering with the Special Olympics, where I saw firsthand how gratitude and encouragement can support socialization and help children overcome challenges. This experience inspired me to pursue a degree in psychology, and since then, I’ve deepened my understanding through coursework in developmental psychology, clinical disorders, and social psychology. These classes, along with hands-on experiences such as working at summer camps and coaching young athletes, have shaped my interest in child development and the psychological processes that support growth and well-being. Outside the classroom, I’m a dual-sport athlete at Union College and an active member of Best Buddies. Whether through coaching, mentoring, or providing support, I’m passionate about helping others thrive and aim to build a career where I can continue to make an impact.
