ABOUT ASHLEY PARKES
My heart and soul lie in the arts. When I picked up an alto saxophone at eight years old, I knew there was nothing better than expressing myself through creative outlets. I packed up all my belongings at the age of eighteen, moving from New York to Los Angeles in order to pursue my dream. This has led me to discover so much more about myself as a creative. My time at LMU has broadened my horizons and exposed me to many assets of the entertainment industry. As a well-rounded artist, I use my creativity to speak to my inner child and to other Black youth who felt like their dreams were too large to come to fruition. I want to tell them that it is more than possible: that there is space for us to be loud and proud in whatever medium we choose.Throughout my four years of education, I have completed a number of internships and immersed myself in leadership positions that involve managing talent and casting actors in productions. In my professional career involving talent management and representation, I aim to diversify and amplify BIPOC and other marginalized actors and creatives by providing them with opportunities to share their gifts and platforms.
