ABOUT ASHLEY MINTZ

Website Password: 2023I have always loved working with youth but I was unsure where this passion would take me. Before deciding to pursue Social Work, my primary experience was with children at Camp Ramaquois with campers ranging from age 8-15. Now, I have worked with youth of many ages across various settings ranging from upper-class campers, newly resettled refugees, and low-income students. I completed an internship with Hopeprint where I worked as the Kids Assistant Program Coordinator developing Social Studies curriculum and teaching it to elementary-aged resettled refugees in 2017. I then completed my first field practicum as a School Support Intern at McKinley-Brighton Elementary School with Coordinated Care Services Inc, Family Support for Student Success in Syracuse, NY. Upon graduating from Syracuse University, I attended Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service to obtain Master’s Degree where I interned with the New York Foundling. I had the opportunity to intern both as a Socio-therapy Intern with the Treatment Family Foster Care Program (TFFC) and a Social Work Intern with the Mother/Child Program. Through my experience, I have worked with individuals as young as one-year-old and as old as nineteen-years-old. Working with a diverse range of populations, I am dedicated to working with youth of any age specifically in a school or other school-based setting. I hope to utilize my creative problem-solving skills in order to address social and psychological issues that may block academic progress in a way that is in the student’s best interest. Overall, I hope to instill strong values and principles of leadership, responsibility, and respect by being a positive role model to all.
