ABOUT ASHLEY M. PIERCE
I am an environmental scientist with 15+ years of experience in environmental research, non-profit science education, and federal science policy. I have experience with environmental measurements and monitoring, requiring extensive field site management, cooperation with multiple state and federal agencies, and proficiency with analytical instrumentation, data analysis, and scientific papers. I also have experience writing grants, developing science programs, and mentoring middle and high school students. At the National Science Foundation I work on interdisciplinary programs, environmental engineering and sustainability, the Federal Advisory Committee for Environmental Research and Education, and I lead a Public Engagement with Science Initiative. I am passionate about making a positive impact, specifically in environmental sustainability. Science education and communication are key parts of making a positive impact and I love creating and improving scientific conversations across disciplines that will contribute to collaborative and equitable solutions to some of the most pressing current and future environmental problems.
